Matthew is a corporate and commercial lawyer with more than 15 years of experience and is dual-qualified as a solicitor in both Hong Kong and Australia. Prior to working at DCLO, Matthew has worked for large international law firms both in Hong Kong and Australia.
​
Matthew advises private capital firms, funds and companies on general corporate matters, M&A transactions, joint ventures, exits, restructurings and portfolio company matters.
​
He has a proven track record and his work spans a variety of sectors, with a focus on energy and resources, technology, media and telecommunications, healthcare, consumer retail and real estate / infrastructure.

Matthew holds a Bachelor of Laws and a Bachelor of Commerce degree from Monash University.

Representing a consortium consisting of POSCO, Marubeni Corporation and STX Corporation on their investment into, and subsequent development of, one of Australia's largest iron ore mines, the Roy Hill Iron Ore Project in Western Australia, including advising on rail and port access for the consortium.

Representing a private Indonesian company on the sell down of its interests in certain coal assets in Indonesia to a Chinese investor and subsequent joint venture arrangements.

Acting for a Chinese tech giant in relation to restructuring activities in Hong Kong and China.

Advising Stamford American School and The Harbour School in Hong Kong in relation to the establishment of school operations in Hong Kong and ongoing operational matters relating to the School, including negotiating various procurement agreements, loan agreements and advising on matters relating to employment disputes.
